Krishna had all along been with the Pandavas.
Now everything over, he left for Dwarika. On the way,
He met a saint named Uttanka who asked him about the
well-being of the Kauravas and the Pandavas. Krishna
told him all about the war and his help for the victorious
Pandavas. It enraged the saint who got ready to utter a curse
on Krishna holding him responsible for
everything. But Krishna appeared in the cosmic form
and the saint became happy. He asked a boon from
Krishna, "Whenever I need water, it
should be available to me."
Shri Krishna granted the boon and moved to
Dwraka. A few days later, the saint, while
roaming in a forest felt awful thirsty. As soon as he thought
of water, a low-caste man ( chandala ) appeared before him with
a mussuck (goat skin) of water. He was clothed in dirty
rags and some hounds were with him. When the man offered water
to the saint, the saint responded with anger and refused to take
the water. The low-caste man disappeared and Shri Krishna
appeared in his place. He told the saint that the man was
none else but Lord Indra and the water in
his mussack was water of immortality.
The saint realized that his caste bias was not good for
humanity.
